People lose teeth for various reasons, including trauma, decay, and gum disease. But regardless of the cause, it is best if they can be replaced – both for aesthetic and functional reasons.
Now, dental implants are preferred.
A modern dental implant is made of titanium the size of the root of a tooth. It is placed where a tooth has been lost. Once the implant heals, it can be used to support a crown to replace a missing tooth or as a foundation to help stabilize a denture.
Strong, healthy bone is needed to hold implants in place. However, if a person loses a tooth and doesn’t have sufficient bone, a bone grafting procedure can be performed to support the implant.
Dental implants can be placed in patients of any age (with fully developed jawbones), provided they have a sufficient quantity and quality of bone tissue available. Most healthy individuals (with good oral hygiene) are suitable candidates for dental implants.

This procedure works for patients who don’t have teeth, but have enough bone to support implants. Compared to dentures, dental implants offer increased sensation when eating and feel more like natural teeth.
A fixed bridge replace missing teeth by using the surrounding teeth as a foundation. This creates an actual bridge between the remaining teeth and the missing teeth. A fixed bridge is very useful when replacing a missing tooth or two. The porcelain can be sculpted to replicate the look of natural tooth enamel. Using this durable material gives your bridge a strong base to rely on.
Porcelain bridges are easy to maintain and can be treated like original teeth. Patients can care for bridges by brushing with non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste and flossing regularly.
Periodontal disease impacts both soft and hard structures that support teeth. It is caused by the presence of harmful bacteria and, in serious cases, can result in gum tissue and bone loss.
